A. Monitoring of workflows for batch processing and file transfers

As the essential requirements for both sub-sectors largely matched, a generic monitoring framework was developed for this class of challenges. The monitoring framework is a Java implementation and is based on client-server technology. Messages from various sources are prepared in the server and propagated to clients in real time, for situation-specific display of the relevant system status and situation-related alarm actuation.
The operator can relay problems (incidents) directly into the problem management system for administration and reporting.
The monitoring system is characterised by its flexibility, scalability and high-level availability. Standards such as IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ Series, ORACLE 8i, Java and XML services were consistently focused on as the basis. As a result, several thousand company-critical file transfer services can be operated and monitored appropriately.

B. UBS Location Finder

A WEB application was developed as part of this project. The purpose was for each registered user to be able to obtain an immediate overview of the location of a (the nearest) UBS branch.
One of the main difficulties was to extract the existing data from the numerous different source systems and put it into a uniform grid. Combination with GIS data to enable the display of corresponding map extracts was also challenging.

C. Observar: Enterprise Risk & Opportunity System

Observar AG has more than 10 years of practical experience of performing opportunity and risk assessments and introducing group-wide opportunity and risk management systems. The aim was to develop a web application which bundled the practical knowledge gathered in a structured form and enabled the application to be installed as a finished product.
